Deering Goodtime Deco 5-String Openback Banjo
Introducing a new variation on our most popular banjo, the look of the Goodtime Deco banjo is inspired by the American Art Deco design movement of the 1920s, featuring a distinct new inlay design and peghead engraving. The hardware is finished in a beautiful and durable US Bronze powder finish, which is not only hypoallergenic, it won’t tarnish! It also now features a comfortable armrest and as always, the Goodtime banjo is made in the U.S.A. It still has the playability and tone that the Goodtime banjo is famous for, and is light enough to bring with you anywhere.
The Goodtime Deco is the first of Deering's new Goodtime Deco Series and is based on their most popular model, the Goodtime Openback, which has been a fan favorite since its original release in 1996.
The new Goodtime Deco is built upon the same 4 pillars of the Goodtime Principle, (Quality, Tone, Value, and Playability) but with the addition of a stunning aesthetic inspired by the vibrant American Art Deco design movement of the 1920s when the banjo reigned as America's most beloved instrument.
Impeccably designed, the Goodtime Deco banjos showcases timeless Art Deco inspired hardwood inlays with an engraved Art Deco motif in the peghead.
The hardware boasts a beautiful and durable US Bronze powder finish, perfectly accentuating the banjo's overall Art Deco-inspired appearance.
And by popular demand, each Goodtime banjo now includes a distinctive serial number discreetly stamped on the back of the peghead. This unique identifier adds a touch of exclusivity to your instrument, reflecting the attention to detail that goes into every Deering Goodtime Deco banjo.
Today, the Deering Goodtime banjo is as popular as ever, continuing to be the choice among musicians of all skill levels, thanks to its excellent craftsmanship, superior sound quality, and affordable price point. It is also the most recommended banjo for beginners!
Central to the success of the Goodtime banjo is the construction which utilizes high-quality materials and components, including a 3-ply violin-grade maple rim, and an exceptionally stable and slender hard rock maple neck, ensuring that it delivers a rich, full sound with excellent clarity and projection. The Goodtime tailpiece is their own design, the tension hoop is rolled in-house from raw metal. They took time to source the best possible tuners to compliment the Goodtime affordability and topped it off with the best banjo strings on the market.
This emphasis on quality also makes the Goodtime banjo incredibly easy to play, thanks to its slim neck profile, low string action, and smooth fretwork. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, you'll appreciate the Goodtime banjo's comfortable feel and excellent playability.
All Goodtime banjos are made by skilled craftsmen in our only facility, located in San Diego, CA. And at only 4 pounds, the weight makes it ideal for both children and adults to play and travel with conveniently.
Even when you eventually step up to an upperline model, we are certain that your trusty Goodtime will remain a go-to banjo.
